Must Love Dogs

So I rented Must Love Dogs last Saturday while Tom was out playing poker. It is your average, luke warm romantic comedy that doesn't really have anything special in it, but a great big Newfie that doesn't get enough screen time. And guess what? Neither main character even owns a dog!!! Basically, it's about two people who are recently divorced by people who didn't love them. And then they meet and awkwardly fall in love. Very awkwardly. You never really buy it. Yep, nothing special.

Fun with Dick and Jane

Yesterday we went to see Fun with Dick and Jane at the Bridge. Eh. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but this one is definately a renter. Ari and I only give it two thumbs up (out of four). It has its moments, and the general idea of the movie is pretty good, but the best parts are all shown to you in the trailer, so there aren't really any suprises. This is worth the $3 to rent but don't go to the theater.

Red Eye
Posted by Tom...

Tom

After watching the Chicago Bears choke in their first real shot through the playoffs, and after the news of the Indianapolis Colts blowing their last second field goal and losing in their first shot as well, I was feeling pretty down, since having either (or both!) go to the super bowl would have been the best thing that could have happened to northwest Indiana in sports since that one time 20 years ago when the Bears were good. I've never been old enough to see the Bears be good, or the Cubs for that matter (they choked in the pennant series two years ago and never recovered), so I was hoping for some lovin' this year. I even had Ari dress up in Chicago Gear for good luck, but it didn't quite work.

So, after the sadness, we had Bryn over to watch Red Eye, once again starring Rachel McAdams. (we had just watched the Wedding Crashers, and earlier Mean Girls and The Notebook, so this completes the cycle.) This was quite an excellent movie. Kinda short (1h 25mins) but it really didn't need to be any longer and was quite good as it was. It was an edge-of-your-seat type movie, and many times I was writhing in my spot on the couch, and Bryn was spinning in my computer chair or standing on one leg spinning around on the wood floor in his socks. Now, keep in mind that neither of these activities are at all unusual for the two of us, but we were both particularly spinny and squirmy, and both at the same time, so you know something's up! This one gets 3.75 thumbs on the Tom and Ari scale. This is as high as it gets before reaching Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings / Matrix / Gladiator status.

The Wedding Crashers

Ari and I watched The Wedding Crashers last night, which was quite hilarious. However, it's pretty raunchy, so I'm not going to go into detail. But still excellent. Ari and I give it three thumbs up.

King Kong

Tom

I went to go see King Kong with the wife and two peeps from church for one of the peep's birthday. It was pretty good, much better than I expected. There was one point where I threw up my hands and just started laughing because it got a little too rediculous, but if you go into the movie expecting the same type of seriousness as The Mummy then you should be ok. Ari said many times during the movie "I love this movie!" and "This is the best movie ever!" so it's probably worth the ticket price to go see it now on the big screen. Just don't get a super-double gulp slurpee before hand otherwise you'll have to go to the bathroom 12 times in the three hour, seven minute film.
